great product This item used for my sliding door but i also can use it for any of my windows as well. It was very easy to install it.It only took me about 5 min. I could not find this item anywere until i stubled on to this web site.Great price as well. March 17, 2011
Works Sufficiently My options for venting are only through a large sliding window and a sliding door. Although this kit works sufficiently, it's a little clumsy and unsophisticated. I installed it as is, but I believe I can improve it with a little ingenuity. August 17, 2011
sliding door kit This kit is just plastic and isn't the best material for what I need, but I'm using it as I don't know what else to use. It's a bit flimsy and I had to use duct tape to hold it together as the using just the screws didn't hold it. June 16, 2011
Edge Star Sliding Door Kit Very flimsy material and directions poor for a realy talll door. We had to improvise. Surrounding the place where the hoses attach allows air leaks from the exterior, not a close seal at all. Disapointed in this. June 16, 2011

Hello, the four sliding panels shown in the photo fit together and are adjustable so you may fit the panel vertically into the opening of your sliding glass door. Once the panels are together, and the length you desire, you will secure them with the included screws. Since you have opened your sliding door (around 6 inches or so) to insert the kit you will want to add a sliding door lock onto the bottom track of your door which will prevent someone from opening the door further. Hope this info helps.

I am asking the specific question because I do not have the brand of portable air conditioner that this kit is specified for. I like the aspects of the kit and want to adapt it for my air conditioner and my large window (because the manufacturer of my air conditioner does not provide a big enough window vent kit.

If your unit utilizes the standard 5" diameter type hose you should be able to find a way to secure it to the included adapter piece that attaches into the vent hole of the window kit. You may need to seal it up with a bit of duct tape but it is certainly possible. Thank you

I will be venting the portable AC/Heater through a double casement window set up that has a vertical center bar. The casement has 'no true panes' but is a solid double glass window with wood between the glass to give the illusion of panes. Can the Edgestar or Soleus window exhaust kits be adapted to this situation or do I have to be creative? If so, will the company adjust the price or include other accessories rather than an 'unusable window kit. I would like to make my purchase to eake advantage of your current sale.

What most of our customers have done with casement windows is make their own kit using plexiglass.

All you do is cut a piece of plexiglass to size of the window (a lot of people use the screen as a template) and then cut a hole the size of the exhaust hose in the plexiglass. You then attach the hose to the plexiglass and put the plexiglass in the window. Now you can simply crank out the casement window. This allows you to vent the hot air out while the plexiglass prevents heat from coming back in.

Technically you can do this with just about any material, but most like plywood, are not as attractive.

I don't understand how to put the dual hose in when the unit only has one hole. Also on a more monetery note, how can a slider of thin metal or plastic cost me an additional $69. Paying close to $500 should be enough to handle the few dollars needed to pay for the extension. I don't understand and would have to build my own. One more question, some reviews talk about noise, I am going to use it on a lania where we will be watching TV, entertaining, and eating. I might watch TV only 10 feet away, how loud is it. Thanks for the info. For your info, the floor is 365' sq with 10' ceiling.

    Hello,

I can't answer the questions about the hose and slider issues. However, regarding the noise factor, I've got the 8K BTU model and don't find it especially noisy. It just hums away quietly in my home office. I find that the sound the AC emits Is actually rather soothing.

    Hello!

We recommend that you only plug the exhaust hose into the slider, you don’t want to plug the intake hose on the slider if it’s over 90 degrees outside, because the air you are taking in, is going to be too hot. But, If you want both hoses to plug into the slider you'll have to drill an extra hole on the slider.

As far as the noise most PAC units are about 54 decibels.

    Thank you for your question!

It appears to be about 5" hose, which means you cannot use dryer vent hose.
